There are a number of things that can cause IE to crash. Please try the following fixes, one at a time. One or more of the below items may be necessary to fix your issue:

* Most of the time, IE crashes can be avoided by setting IE to its default configuration.
Open IE, Open Internet Options-->Advanced, Click the Reset Button. Close IE

* This crash may be caused by your anti-virus ''End Point Protection'' or anti-malware applications. Temporarily disable these applications prior to recording. Remember to turn it back on after recording. Your ability to disable this may be blocked within Garmin. You will need a policy exception from the appropriate agency within your organization. We have seen this many time for many customers and 90% of the time disabling the ''Endpoint Protection'' allowed the script to record properly. Most load testing tools have some problems with anti-virus packages especially during script recording. A Bad recording = bad script during replays.

Anti-Virus and Intrusion programs have been known to Block HP LoadRunner Vugen from properly recording. HP Recommends to ''Disable anti-virus software'' during installation of the LoadRunner Tools and During the Recording of the Scripts.'' It is known that anti-virus software is intrusive when they are set to look for viruses. However, in searching for viruses, the software can interfere with a program's proper execution. This could cause problems and sometimes crashes. This is why, for debugging purposes, we recommend turning off the anti-virus software.

The icon for the anti-virus software resides in the system tray (where the clock is located). Normally, you should be able to right-click on the icon and select ''disable.'' However, some setups do not allow a user to turn off the anti-virus software. It is recommended to speak to a system administrator to get the anti-virus program disabled for a short period for debugging the problems. You should be allowed to disable your ''Endpoint Protection'' for up to 2 hours.

* Try setting Recording Options-->General-->Code Generation-->Async Scan (Checked)
* Reset all of the recording options to use the defaults
* Try recording in WinInet Mode. In Recording Options-->Network-->Port Mapping-->Capture Level, select: WinINet level data
* Try checking the Recording Options-HTTP Properties-->Advanced-->Recording Engine. Check the box that indicates ''Record script using earlier recording engine''
* You may be missing one or more of LoadRunner's prerequisite programs. Please check and make sure all of the following programs are installed on your system:

? Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1
? Windows Imaging Component. This is a prerequisite for .NET Framework 4.0.
? NET Framework 3.5 SP1 (See the note below for installation instructions.)
? NET Framework 4.0
? Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 2.0 SP3 for Microsoft .NET Redistributable Runtime MSI
? Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0 for Microsoft .NET Redistributable Runtime MSI
? Microsoft Core XML Services (MSXML) 6.0
? Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (x86)
? Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (x64)
? Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (x86)
? Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (x64)
? Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update (x86)
? Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 SP1 (or later)Reboot the Machine(s)

HP recommends that LoadRunner/Performance center version 11.0x Testers be LOCAL Admins (Not just a Domain Admin) to run LoadRunner. (on the their local machine where Vugen is installed and the script are created). Sometimes, due to security restrictions, this is not possible. In that cas
