How can I change the license type UFT uses?

We have run into a bind where all of our license keys for UFT are used up by users. We have some Functional Testing licenses that we’d like to use, but when we start UFT we get the error message and we can’t get to the change license section. Is there any way to fix this>

Here is a workaround which should help:

You can go into the registry and modify the key that UFT uses for the default when it starts.

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMercury InteractiveLicense ManagerUFT

Modify the registry's 'Need' value to match one of the following:

1-Service Test

2-QuickTest Professional

3-QuickTest Professional and Service Test

4-Unified Functional Testing

This will change the default license type UFT uses when starting. This will by-pass the error coming up and preventing you from selecting a different license type to use.

For QTP, the registry path is the same, but the values are limited:

1-Check the Load Unified Functional Testing License option

2-Uncheck the Load Unified Functional Testing License option
