IDENTIFYING COPIED TEST CASES

For metrics purposes, is there a way to determine if a test case was copied versus (Imported/Created from scratch in the UI)??

We are monitoring productivity/quality trends…and need to separate copied versus non-copied test cases.

Please advise.

If the information that you are looking for is available in QC/ALM then it would be in the project's audit_log and audit_properties tables.

The audit_log table holds events on which history was recorded and the audit_properties holds details about those events. The two tables can be linked/joined on au_action_id (in the audit_log table) and ap_action_id (in the audit_properties table).

The only way that I could think of to report on these tables would be to use either Excel Reports or Excel Business View Reports.

I reviewed the entire audit log for multiple databases have haven't seen any entries that identify that a test has been copied. Is there a logging attribute that I need to turn ON to get that data logged to the audit log file?

I don't see anywhere where information on if a test set was copied is stored in the database. I have even tried turning on versioning for a project on our non-prod system to see if the information would show up in the history tables and it did not show the information that you were looking for.
