Not able to change license type in UFT

I am having a problem with our concurrent license. After installing UFT and using the demo license, I am trying to update the license type to use a license server. I walk through the Install License and select the concurrent radio button and put in my license server and it shows a success message.

Now, when I try to launch UFT again, it gives me a license error and when I click on Install License, it is still showing it set as a seat license. I keep changing and it keeps happening over and over.

What is probably happening is you don't have permission to modify the license type. You can try this and see if you have permssion or not.

1. Click the Start button in Windows and click Run
2. Type 'regedit' without the quotes and hit enter to launch the registry editor
3. Navigate to the following key for the appropriate version of Windows (32 bit or 64 bit):

32 bit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMercury InteractiveQuickTest ProfessionalRainbow

64 bit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMercury InteractiveQuickTest ProfessionalRainbow

4. Right-click on ''LicType''
5. Select Modify
6. Set the value to 1 for concurrent (0 for seat license)
7. Click OK and close the registry editor
8. Try launching UFT/QTP again and if you get a license error again, go back to the registry key above and see if it reverted. If so, it means that you don't have permissions to change the license type and you will have to have an admin change this for you.
