Object Spy Copy Properties to Clipboard

When using object spy to get object properties and then copying the properties to the clipboard, there are escape characters left in the individual properties in front of special characters.

We tried copying to Notepad++, Notepad and Word and the escape characters were still there.

Individual lines can be copied manually with no escape characters, so I’m guessing it’s the Copy to Clipboard function that has the bug.

Using the copy button on the Object Spy copies Programmatic Description Data from the Object Spy. Programmatic Description Objects by default, the value of all Property objects added to a Properties collection are treated as regular expressions. Therefore, if you want to enter a value that contains a special regular expression character (such as *, ?, +), use the (backslash) character to instruct UFT to treat the special characters as literal characters. For details on regular expressions, see ''Regular Expressions Overview'' on page 319.

Conculsion: HP has designed this as a feature and is not considered a bug or defect.
