QTP won’t open when I work from home

When I open QTP from work while connected to the network on my laptop, it works just fine. But when I get home, QTP won’t fully launch. I say it won’t *fully* launch because there is a process for it in Task Manager, but it never launches. The only difference I can tell is that I’m connected to my work network via Microsoft Direct Access instead of directly to the network like at the office.

I had this same issue once. After some looking around, found a setting in Microsoft Direct Access that enabled DNS resolution either as Local DNS resolution or Corporate DNS resolution.

Solution:
When set to Corporate DNS Resolution, QTP would not finish opening (as described above)

When set to Local DNS Resolution, QTP would open with no problem.

I researched this, but could not determine why this is the case, but at least it works!
