Test case execution report showing negative values for the steps remaining to run.

Hello. We have a report that we run in ALM to display the manual test steps that have been executed, and we are receiving negative values in the report, when all the steps in the TC has been run successfully. We found that the tests in Test Lab had fewer steps than the same instance in Test Plan. The question is… If the testers don’t have access to Test Plan, how are the steps being added to the tests?

Hello. I have seen this issue before, and it was discovered that the testers were accidentally adding steps to the tests while the tests were being executed. In the ‘Manual Runner’ window, the user can add additional steps to the test by clicking the ‘Add Step’ button. The ‘Add Step’ button is located close to the 'Pass selected' button, so it would be fairly easy for someone to accidentally click the ‘Add Step’ button instead of the ‘Pass selected’ button if they aren’t paying attention, or they are in a hurry. You can correct the values displayed in the report if you re-run the tests without accidentally adding steps, and this will update the report with the expected run results.
