Hello,

We are receiving the following error on a few client’s user systems:

“Unable to cast COM object of type ‘System_ComObject’ to interface type ‘Microsoft OfficeUcUCOfficeintegration. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with ID….”

We are unsure where to starts with this issue as we haven’t applied any patches or update to any systems within the corporation but recently have experienced this on a few user’s systems.

Any assistance with this issue is greatly appreciated,

HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,

Sounds like there was something uninstalled or missing in your office installion that was being referenced. You should try repairing the office installation. You may have to uninstall or reinstall the office to get the issue correceted. See this articel for repsiring the office installation (you may have to get your IT department involved if you don't have the permissions and rights necessary to perform this): https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b

Run the office repair as the link above shows how to do.  You may have to uninstall and reinstall the office suite as a last result. The issue it seems is something within Microsoft office suite and not anything in the ALM client.  This appears to be a Microsoft office related file issue that the repair of the Microsoft office suite corrects.  This issue has occurred in other versions as well and most of the time the Microsoft office repair fixes the issue.  Sometimes it is because of the integration of the Skype client from the Microsoft office components.  Sometimes when it is installed and linked to ALM it has file changes occur and the linked files are missing or broken and the repair of the office suite corrects it.

I hope this answer corrects your issue,

Dan
