Hello,
We are noticing a difference in the returned user sets within the two different search options when adding users through the LDAP search feature within our ALM system? Could you please clarify the differences we are seeing?

Hi HomerJ,
The main differences at this point are in the type of searches that are performed on the LDAP installation by these searches. The Keyword filter search performs a cascading search where it starts at the base and cascades into the hierarchy to return a full listing of results that met the criteria, however the other search actually performs a single level search only returning results that are within the same peer group hierarchy as the base filter being searched on. This is the design of the system currently and enhancement requests have been submitted to allow for the addition of options or parameters to allow for both types of searches to be either cascading or single level based upon the desired need and thus return basically the same results.

I hope this clarifies what is happening on the back end better,

Dan

Thanks, that explains clearly and concisely why we are returning different results. I hope the requests are honored.
