What needs to be backed up prior to upgrade of HP ALM?

Hello,
We have been tasked with backing up the projects and resources prior to an HP ALM upgrade. We are unsure exactly what the repository and schema refers to. In regards to the Project Repository. It says to back this up, is the Project Repository a folder? ex: D:ProgramData\\HP\\ALM\\repository\\QC\\PERDUE_2\\test_project

Is the project repository we should be backing up?

Thanks,
HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,
That directory path is what they call the repository. If you back up everything within the repository folder (all children below it) you will have backed up the entire repository. We also recommend backing up the db schemas as well. These schemas to be backed up are all of the project schemas and the lab project and qcsiteadmin schemas. Many don't realize that these last 2 are important and necessary schemas (*Note the lab project only will be present on ALM 11.52 and newer versions as it was only added in for that version and those later).

Hope this helps clarify things,
Dan
