Why Can’t I add Additional servers in HP ALM 12.53 within the MSI Generator?

Hello,
We have recently upgraded to and found that when we tried to use the MSI Generator that the ability to add additional servers no longer exists as is did in prior versions of the generator.

Is this normal and to be expected or is something wrong wth our MSI generator Utility?

Thanks,
HomerJ

Hi HomerJ,
Recently HP has changed the way the MSI is generated. Before the way that HP generated the MSI it first created a folder based upon the individual servers name and URL and cached the components based off of this hierarchy. Since ALM 12.53 (and according to the KM article all forth coming versions), the way that the folders are now created will be based upon the version number and therefor the need to add separate named server instances no longer is necessary as it uses the version number to create the folder the MSI is generated out of.

HP has issued the following KM article KM02777450 (if you have access to HP Portal here: https://softwaresupport.hpe.com/km/KM02777450?lang=en&cc=us&hpappid=202392_SSO_PRO_HPE ) fully explains this.

I hope this helps,
Dan
