Hello All,

I have following questions related to our License Management in ALM(Enterprise Edition), Can you please help here to understand this better

  1. I see there are Full licenses Installed of some quantity with no Expiry date, Does this mean  the license will never expire for ALM?
  2. There are “Additional Requirement” licenses installed, when we have full license installed already why is this additional requirements licenses installed?
  3. There are “Business components” licenses installed, when we have full license installed already why is this Business components licenses installed?

Going forward we wanted to cut short these licenses for which we have got new set of license.

What will happen if the new licenses are installed in addition to existing license? will it override?

Kindly help

  1. The full licenses do not expire however if you do not renew the license then you will no longer be able to receive support for those licenses from Micro Focus. You will also not be entitled to update and upgrades of the software beyond the date of expiration.
  2. The ALM license is divided into three parts Test (TestLab, TestPlan), Defects, and Requirements (Requirements, Business Models). A full license has all three parts but an "Additional Requirement" license only has the requirement part. The "Additional Requirement" license is substantially cheaper than the full license so if you that only needs access to that portion of ALM then you can save money using this type of license.
  3. The Business Components license is for Business Process Testing (BPT). You can find more information about BTP at... https://admhelp.microfocus.com/alm/en/12.55/online_help/Content/bpt.htm
If you install a license over-top of an existing license...
  • If you are on version 11 or earlier it will overwrite what is installed.
  • If you are on version 11.5x or later it will add to what is already there.
If you reduce your license totals for a product you will need to make sure that you remove the additional licenses from the ALM server to stay in compliance with Micro Focus's license agreement. If you drop support for a product then the information in question #1 applies.
