Tableau measures are set to a SUM aggregation by default.  You can change the aggregation for a measure by 1) right-click on the measure 2) select default properties and 3) choose an aggregation.  Each time you drag the measure to the canvas it will maintain the select aggregation.

Hello, I am using an excel sheet with data I want to import into Tableau without creating a data connection.  Is there a way I can copy the data without connecting to the data source inside Tableau Desktop? Regards, Pradeep

Hi, I have an Excel spreadsheet on my shared drive, and when I connect to the data and publish, I am unable to update my workbook with the new data.   Thanks, Rob
