Sprinter install error: Error opening installation log file

We are upgrading our Sprinter versions on users' machines. Some machines did not have a prior version of Sprinter, but many do. Upgrading to version 12.53.

On machines without a prior install, we can do the regular install setup from the EN folder. However this does not seem to work for machines that had a prior version installed.

We use a clean utility to go about automating the uninstall of the prior version. We then try the setup from the EN folder. This gives way to an error: "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and writable".

UAC is off and admin is doing the installs.

Hello,

Seen this once before and to fix do not install from the EN folder but instead try the MSI method of installation.

To install Sprinter in silent mode using an MSI installation:

1. Open a command line window. (Type cmd in the Run box)
2. Type the following (where ADDLOCAL is case-sensitive and the Sprinter and SprinterALM values are mandatory):

![alt text][1]

msiexec /qn /i ''SprinterMSIHP_Sprinter_12_53.msi'' ADDLOCAL=Sprinter,SprinterALM,UFTAutomationEngineForALM,SprinterSA,SprinterScanners

The MSI silent mode installation seems to correct for the given error message.

Please check out the readme file for Sprinter 12.53 to see same explanation for the MSI install.
