Failed to Post Test and Failed to Connect Project errors in ALM

Hello. I was in the middle of running tests for a project we have in ALM, when all of a sudden, I received the error message "Failed to Post Test." I waited a few minutes before trying to proceed, but the system wouldn't let me do anything. I finally had to close the test runner and log out of ALM. When I attempt to log back in, I now receive the error "Failed to Connect Project." This issue is only affecting one project, as I am able to access other projects without any issues. I then logged into Site Admin, and when I click on the project in the 'Site Projects' tab, I receive the error "Failed to Test Connection." I then had our DBA check the database for the affected project user account, and he said that it was locked. He reset the user account, and set the password to 'never expire', but it didn't resolve the issue. We have tried resetting the password, but aren't sure what the previous password was. We are currently using ALM with an Oracle database. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the message that is displayed in the sa logs:

Can’t create a new database connection for url ‘jdbc:mercury:oracle:TNSNamesFile=/opt/HP/tnsnames.ora;TNSServerName=RPDHQC’ on getting connection to database server (jdbc:mercury:oracle:TNSNamesFile=/opt/HP/tnsnames.ora;TNSServerName=RPDHQC)

Hello. We have seen this issue before, and I will be glad to assist you with this. First, you will need to REMOVE the project (Right-click on the project in the projects list and select 'Remove' from the menu displayed) from the projects list in Site Admin. Next, have your DBA set a new password for the project schema in the database. After you have received the new password from the DBA, you will enter it into the 'DB_USER_PASS' field in the dbid.xml file for the affected project in the format ''TXT:schema_password''. After you enter the password and save the file, go back into Site Admin and RESTORE the project (Right-click on the Domain where you wish to restore the project, and select 'Restore Project' from the menu displayed. For future reference, when ever a new project is created, ALM autogenerates an encrypted password for you. Whenever you create a new project in ALM, we recommend that you notify your DBA, and have them set the password for that new project to 'Never notify' to avoid this from occurring again. You or the DBA should also keep the schema user password(s) handy in case any future issue arises where the it may be needed. I hope this helps.

Thank you for the information. We were able to get the project successfully restored in ALM, and everything seems to be back to normal.
