  • How can I use the ENVIRONMENTS table in the project database
Question ID: 107428

The CYCLE.CY_ENVIRONMENT field is currently empty in ALM. Our team would like to begin utilizing this field within the Test Sets in the Test Lab module. Looking at the Project Entities I can see the field is associated with the system field ‘Default Environment’. According to the info in this link ( the CY_ENVIRONMENT is the ID from the ENVIRONMENTS table.

How/where is the ENVIRONMENTS table populated?

Then ENVIRONMENTS table was a table that was used by the environments feature of the QC/ALM webclient that was removed in version 12.50. I would not recommend using this table.

If you still want to use it you will need to do the following.

1. Add the site parameter WEBUI_TEST_MANAGEMENT with a value of Y
2. Log into the QC/ALM webclient and select Test Management (Technical Preview) from the Home dropdown menu
3. Click on Environments at the top of the page
4. Create your Environments

There is no way to access this table from within the desktop client so once you move to QC/ALM 12.5x or above you will not be able to create additional environments.
