QC 11 client installing in incorrect directory

We are trying to install QC 11 client on machines that had QC 10 installed previously. We are doing this with full local admin rights. On some machines we are getting an error (this is just part of the error):

Following client components were not downloaded successfully:

1 . ExtensibilityAPI.dll :
(Error 5) Access is denied.
Failed to open file for writing

2 . ExtensibilityAPI.dll :
Unable to copy file to the deployment directory

When we go to the location that the client is not able to access in the error: %USERPROFILE%/AppData/local/HP/ALM-Client
There are no client files downloaded in the above location and when we look around on the machine the client files are incorrectly being installed to:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Common Files\\Mercury Interactive (this is the install location for QC 10 not QC 11)

Why is QC 11 installing to the legacy directory for QC10 instead of putting the client files into the proper location for a QC 11 install?

This is rare, but can sometimes happen when the ALM platform loader does not get updated correctly, since the older version of the platform loader still points to the old QC 10 install directory this is where the files get downloaded to, so when the application loads it looks in the new directory, but since the platform loader put the files in the wrong directory it is unable to find the files.

**The best way to keep this from happening is to select to set the temporary internet files to ''Check for newer versions of stored pages'' ''Every time I visit the Webpage'' this way the ALM platform loader and associated files are updated when you access the page and the client files will get installed to the correct directory.**

To set this setting open IE then open internet options, under the general tab click settings under Browsing History and open the Temporary Internet Files tab.

It is also a good idea to clear the temporary internet files once in a while, if you still have problems after changing the above setting, you can click ''View Objects'' and ''View Files'' under the temporary internet files tab and delete the ALM/QC platform loader and spider files from the `C:WindowsDownloaded Program Files` directory and clear everything from `%userprofile%AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindowsTemporary Internet Files` .
