I have seen this before in other versions as well. This resolution has resolved the past issues relating to this error:

Sounds like there was something uninstalled or missing in your Microsoft Office suite installation that was being referenced during the ALM log in call. You should try repairing the Microsoft Office suite installation. You may have to uninstall or reinstall the entire Microsoft Office suite to get the issue corrected but generally the repair tool resolves this issue.
