Using UFT-API virtual users in LoadRunner
Question ID: 108022

So you can make UFT-API tests load test ready, then include them as vusers in a LoadRunner scenario. Three questions:

1. Do you need to have UFT installed on the load generators?
2. How scalable are these types of vusers, relative to TruClient or Web/HTTP vusers?
3. Am I correct in assuming you don’t need a GUI vuser license to run these?

Thanks.

Hello **CandyB,**

- **Do you need to have UFT installed on the load generators?**

**ANSWER:** No; however, you do need Standalone VuGen (or LoadRunner ''full setup'') on the UFT machine ( for Performance Center you need the UFT install on the PC host) see the LoadRunner /UFT integration
Support Matrix https://softwaresupport.softwaregrp.com/group/softwaresupport/search-result/-/facetsearch/document/KM01695362 page for the supported version.

- **How scalable are these types of Vusers, relative to TruClient or Web/HTTP vusers?**

**ANSWER:** There is no data available on the scalable or footprint for UFT API sciprts; however, since the UFT API does not have the GUI elements in the script it should be similar to that of the web(http/html).

- **Am I correct in assuming you don't need a GUI Vuser license to run these?**

**ANSWER:** Yes, don't need a GUI Vuser license bundle: However, you will need a Web 2.0 license bundle to run UFT-API Converted scripts

Thanks, DavidMofOSI.

WRT to your answer to question #1, I just want to be clear...

The need to have full LR or standalone VuGen installed on the same machine as UFT is only relevant to script creation/editing activity, right? Once we have the scripts created and we're ready to run our load test, we just include the vuser script in our scenario and off we go. Is that right?
