We need a way to stop users from just clicking in the comments field on defects and typing their comment. This is messing up synchronizations and is generally bad practice. What can we do?

I am looking to edit our defect workflow so that a specific field cannot be changed once the defect is created. Only 2 security groups can change that field after the defect is created.
